The Power of Planning

Consider these few thoughts about thoughts. A thought is a silent word. Therefore, a word is an exposed thought. Everything in life starts in the form of a thought. Imagination is when a thought becomes a plan. Therefore, imagination is a plan that is not documented. If you want to be successful in life, take your ideas, turn them into imaginations, and then take the imagination and duplicate it physically. The physical document becomes a plan of action.

Many people never get beyond the idea stage. Those are the people that are usually followers. Next there are people who get to the imagination stage. They usually talk a lot but do nothing. Those people are called dreamers. However, when a man or woman takes their imagination and puts it on paper, you are looking at a visionary who is becoming a missionary. If you see things in your mind, you are a visionary.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of visionaries in the graveyard. They had great visions, but their vision never became a mission. When a visionary becomes a missionary, you have a man or woman who is going to change the world.

Consider now the Divine thoughts on thoughts. In the Book of Ephesians, God’s thoughts about thoughts and imagination are revealed. It states, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Eph 3:20). Evidently, God wants us to become people who have plans. He says to use your imagination, but imaginations are plans that are undocumented. When you can document an imagination, you have developed a plan of action for your life. I can guarantee that people who are confused, bored, or disillusioned probably do not have a piece of paper in their life with their plan on it for the next five years. If you do not have anything to look at, you begin reminiscing. If there is no goal in front of you, you check the hazardous holes behind you. If there is no vision in front of you to pull you, you will be dragged back to a past with which you are familiar.

If you do not have a clear plan for your life on paper, you are going to be a confused, misguided person. For this reason, the Scripture says so clearly in Proverbs 16:1, “To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue.” The author goes on to say, “In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps” (Prov 16:9).

As God commanded Moses, document your plan. When you have it all down on paper, if you get confused, you have something to which you can refer. I admonish you to stop, plot your course, and set it for as far as you can imagine. Do not worry about how it is going to get done. God said that if you make the plan, He would give the answer as to how it will be accomplished (Prov 16:1).

Life can be very demanding and the things you have to deal with on a daily basis can have a huge impact on your energy levels and the achievement of your success. For example, not having enough time to focus on the important aspects of your life and lack of progress towards meaningful goals and overwhelm.

Each of these situations drains your reserves. Once you experience powerlessness, your brain “bookmarks” it and it is no surprise that it reappears again. To re-enforce this, you add convenient stories, such as, “I haven’t had the breaks”, or, “The times are just getting worse.”

What motivates you?

Power needs to come from within you, however, it is important to understand that you are responsible for your own power alone. So, what gets you up in the morning and drives you every day? This should be a question you ask yourself daily. What gives you the desire to do whatever it takes to succeed? Is it your drive for connection with others, growth as an individual, contribution, or how you will feel when you achieve your goals? It is important for all of us to know this so that we can approach our day with the total focus required for success.
Staying driven can be a challenge — your drive can be attacked by negative thoughts and anxiety about the future. Everyone faces doubt at some stage in their lives however, what separates the average performer from the highly successful is your ability to keep moving forward. Take a moment to imagine the single biggest thing that motivates you to succeed. If you want to be your own boss, win a fitness competition, start a charitable cause, write a book – what is the biggest driver of those desires?

• Is it money? Status? Fame?
• Do you want more time with your family?
• What about security?
• Do you love doing something so much that being able to do it for a living drives you?
• Do you need the autonomy of working for yourself?

Now that you have an insight into what drives you, it is important to have inspiring goals for success that also allow for balance in your life. Goal setting is about creating new possibilities in your life, to have a life filled with meaning and purpose and having goals that you will be excited and passionate about leading to a new you. For example, start your new business by July 2013, or writing your new book on success by December 2013.

What is your plan for success?

It is all very well to have goals, however, how focused are you on achieving your outcomes? As individuals we carry out many roles, for example parent, wife/husband or manager and you we need to ensure you have balance in each of these areas as well as look after yourselves and spend time with your family and friends. We live in a fast paced world, very much like an express train and what you must decide is when you need to get off that train and spend time on important things, for example, time for reflection, enjoying an amazing sunset etc. This all becomes a balance of urgent versus important, understanding how you feel about constantly being in urgent mode, what it costs you, or alternatively, what it would be like being in a relaxed situation and totally focused. Each of us needs to be aware of the right balance and focus for success.
Techniques for balancing your time will effectively reduce the amount of stress in your life? There are several things you can do to keep yourself organized and on top of your career, not to mention your very busy social life! Here are a few tips for surviving the year with your sanity intact – start using them now, and your chances of successfully balancing your time throughout the year will be much improved!

• Manage around these blocks of time ensuring that your decisions are based on your goals and your true values

Kwa mfano jamii iliyo na uchumi imara,utoa uhakika wa upatikanaji wa ajira na huduma  muhimu katika jamii kama vile upatikanaji wa elimu,huduma za afya,miundo mbinu imara.

jamii yenye uchumi imara ni jamii yenye watu wenye afya njema,na maisha bora,na fikra zao huwa ni fikra zisizo na mawaa ya ajabu ajabu,na mara nyingi jamii zenye uchumi imara zina teknolojia ya hali ya juu,ukifananisha na jamii zenye uchumi ambao si imara.Mataifa ambayo uchumi wake umedorora hukumbwa Zaidi na matatizo ya ajira,Vijana wanapaswa kuelewa kwamba kinachotoa ajira si mfumo wa kisiasa,bali ni mfumo wa uchumi,mfumo ukiwa m’bovu basi ajira itakuwa ni tatizo, bali uchumi ukiwa imara tatizo la ajira litakuwepo kwa kiasi kidogo.

Maendeleo ya teknolojia ya mawasiliano “Information Technology” katika miaka ya hivi karibuni yamekuwa kwa kasi kubwa sana,na ata kubadili mfumo wa maisha ya kijamii baina ya mtu na mtu,mathalani mitandao ya kijamii(kama facebook,twitter,blogs)imepelekea kubadili mfumo wa upashanaji wa habari katika jamii.Leo hii mtu yeyote aliye na ufahamu wa kutumia internet,anaweza akawa chanzo cha habari(Source of information),na habari atakayo itoa ikawafikia maelfu ya watu ndani ya dakika chache sana.

Si tu kwamba teknolojia ya mawasiliano imebadilisha mfumo wa upashanaji wa habari,bali pia ata shughuli za kiuchumi.Siku za hivi karibuni tumekuwa mashahidi na kujionea mifumo ya mawasiliano “Information systems” ikifungwa katika taasisi mbalimbali “organizations”,leo si kitu cha ajabu, kwa benki kuwa na “information security system”, hospitali kuwa na “hospital management information system”,vyuo na shule kuwa na “students information system”, maduka makubwa kuwa na “store reservation system”.Hali hiyo imepelekea mfumo mzima wa utendaji kazi wa organizations hizo kubadilika kabisa na ata kupelekea mfumo wa uchumi wa taifa kubadilika.

Mataifa kama Marekani yameendelea sana katika technolojia ya mawasiliano.Teknolojia ya mawasiliano imekuwa si sehemu ya maisha bali ni maisha halisi ya kila siku,kuna baadhi ya maeneo ukienda katika mataifa ya wenzetu ukiwa na fedha cash,unaweza usinunue chochote kwani mfumo wa malipo umekuwa wa kidijitali sana “Pure digital payments systems”,yaani fedha zina amishwa tu kutoka akaunti moja kwenda nyingine,kulingana na manunuzi yaliyofanyika,pasipo mnunuzi kulipa moja kwa moja.

Tunakoelekea dunia nzima,inalazimishwa kuingia katika mfumo wa “digital economy”.Teknolojia ya mawasiliano ndiyo itakuwa nguzo mama wa mfumo huo wa uchumi,aliye na teknolia ya hali ya juu Zaidi ya mwenzake,ndiye atakaye kuwa na uchumi mzuri Zaidi ya mwenzake na kuwa kinara wa maendeleo,waswahili wana kwambia “Mwenye kisu kikali ndiye anayekula nyama”.Tukifia hatua hiyo shughuli zote za uchumi zitakuwa za kidijitali na zinazoendeshwa kwa mifumo ya kielekronia,na hivyo basi tutakuwa na mataifa yanayotegemea na kuendeshwa na  digital economy.

Mataifa makubwa,yalisha tuacha maili nyingi tu za kutosha katika mbio hizi za teknolojia ya mawasiliano.Taifa kama marekani lina makampuni mengi sana ya nayojihusisha teknolojia ya mawasiliano,mfano kama google, Facebook, Microsoft, apple.

Hakuna sababu ya kukata tamaa ata kama tumeachwa mbali sana, tunachopaswa kutambua maisha ni sasa na wakati wa kuamka ndiyo huu,leo kila mmoja wetu anapaswa aanze kujifunza kutumia teknolojia ya mawasiliano kwa manufaa zaidi na kwa kujitengenezea fursa za kiuchumi,kijamii na ata kisiasa,moja ya sababu ya Obama kushinda uchaguzi wa marekani mwaka 2008,ni jinsi alivyoendesha kampeni yake kwa njia ya kidijitali “21^st century campaign” kitu ambacho mpinzani wake John McCain hakufanya,kuna haja ya kujifunza kutumia internet kama chombo cha kujitengenezea fursa.Mfano mzuri hapa Tanzania ni mjengwablog.com,situ kwamba ni sehemu ya kupata habari bali imekuwa ni ajira kwa wale ambao wanaofanya kazi na Maggid  mjengwa.

Swala la msingi ni jamii nzima kuhamasishwa kuwa na matumizi ya teknolojia,katika njia ambayo ni sahihi zaidi na yenye manufaa kwa maisha yao na vizazi vyao vijavyo.Wanafunzi wanaosoma masomo ya teknolojia,wanapaswa kuumiza bongo zao,ili waibuke na ubunifu utakao tatua matatizo sugu katika taifa letu.

Jamii yetu ikihamasika na kuanza kutumia teknolojia katika shughuli za kiuchumi,tutakuwa na Tanzania inayotegemea uchumi wa kidijitali “digital economy”.Kufika huko inawezekana kabisa,lakini tunapaswa kutambua hatutafika huko ndani ya siku moja,mwezi mmoja,mwaka mmoja,bali itatuchukua miaka mingi sana kuwa taifa linalotegemea na kuendeshwa na digital economy.

Maxwell's 5 Levels of Leadership

Over 30 years ago, John Maxwell began developing the 5 Levels of Leadership. It has been presented before but never to this depth and completeness. The 5 Levels express a way to understand and organize your leadership growth.

Each of the levels build on the previous one and you can only progress to the next level once you have mastered the previous level. As you go higher it is easier to lead because your influence grows as well, as your leadership becomes more service oriented. Maxwell says it takes longer than you think to get to the top level—and many never do. At the same time, you can go down very quickly. But if you have developed the right kinds of relationships with others, they will support you through your missteps and fumbles.

As shown below, the first level is POSITION. At this level, people follow you because they have to. Your influence comes from your position. While that’s not bad—you probably got the position because of your leadership potential—you don’t want to stay here. Leadership is about relationships and leaders will make it their business to develop them.

The second level is PERMISSION. People follow you because they want to. Permission is about building relationships. It focuses on the value of each person and opens up communication. Connecting with others begins with connecting with and growing yourself. Understanding that the first person I must get along with is me, the first person to cause me problems is me, the first person that must change is me, and the first person that can make a difference is me.

Level three – PRODUCTION – recognizes that relationships alone are not enough. A leader is tasked with getting things done. Production level leaders are followed because of what they have done for the organization. They get things done. Their credibility is based on their example. The ability to get results alone doesn’t make you a leader. Leaders are measured by what the entire group accomplishes and not by the individual efforts of the person in charge. Leaders develop their people into a team to get results. To get to the next level you must develop your people.

The fourth level is PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT. Leaders become great because they empower others. They develop more leaders. “Production may win games, but People Development wins championships.” People development assures that growth can be sustained. Self-centered, insecure leaders neglect this stage in their development.

Maxwell estimates that less than 1 percent of all leaders ever reach Level 5 – THE PINNACLE. Leaders at this level understand that the highest goal of leadership is to develop more leaders, not to gain followers or do work. Level 5 leaders develop Level 4 leaders. Developing leaders that can in turn develop leaders is hard work and takes a great deal of skill, focus, and a lifetime commitment. But those leaders that do create Level 5 organizations. They create opportunities that other leaders don’t. Level 5 leaders leverage their own leadership through others. People follow these leaders because of what they are and what they represent. “When you lead an organization, you can’t be focused on just fulfilling the vision or getting work done.”
