50 years ago. There was a young man. This young man had a dream and his dream began as very simple thoughts. His thoughts were to be successful and to have a meaningful life. When he was in his journey to success, he found one thing, he can’t go on with his journey, because he lack freedom to plan his life, he lack freedom of own land, he lack important information so as to implement his strategies. When he was in thought, he found he is no longer a free person. The bell of freedom was ringing in his mind. Freedom! Freedom! Freedom!
Can you get success and be a wealth person if you lack freedom? The answer is No! Can you have a peace of mind, if you don’t have freedom? No. A human being was created to be free in God’s presence, not in money presence, is in God’s presence. If you are free you can do anything positive you want, for the purpose of building development foundations in your life and national in large.
To be free was the burning issue, to this young man. So he sat down, from his simple thoughts, he create simple ideas which will have large impacts to himself and his whole community. May be, he told his best friend “You know, I want to be successful man, but am in jail and am not free”, may be, his friend, replied, “it is not only you, even I”, then they mutually agreed, to sit together and to create strategies to be free, they write down their strategies. They knew that “if you want ideas to come true, write them, and then work on them, things will change”, they decide to invite their friends to their historical journey towards freedom. After a month later, even those who were not their friends, join their hands with them. After closing and open their eyes, hundreds join them.
You see, you can have a problem and you may think it’s only you who have that problem. But I tell you, there are a lot of people having the same problem as you. And don’t give up when you face problems, problems come and go but you are here to stay. Wake up Tanzania youth, our time is now; we don’t have another time, and remember that, when we stop thinking we often lose our opportunities. We must think now. We must create our own opportunities, because opportunities are not given, opportunities are taken, to take them you must have seen them, to see them you must have opportunism’ eyes.
When they were hundred. They started an initiative of solving their problem. Do I have a great heart; to initiate ways of solving real life problems? This question must be asked by every young person who dreams big, if you are not a dreamer of big ideas, don’t ask yourself.
Few years later they started the organization, the vision was to establish free society. Now look, it was the issue of one person, then with his friend, hundreds, now it’s another interesting story, the organization.
The organization which has gifted and talented young thinkers of that time.
The organization which has answers, to people questions.
The organization unleashing and reshape youth thoughts.
The organization with a voice, on behalf of those voiceless.
Voice to whom? A voice towards obstacle of freedom in the community.
What was the obstacle? Colonial administration, they were humiliate us, discriminate us, killing innocent men and women, they had destroy our economy, political and social aspects. When you know your enemy, you have already finished and win the war before the beginning of the war. The agenda was to remove the colonial rule, so as people can be free and when they will be free, they will be in a good position to develop. No freedom, no success! Are you free?
Every one of us today, is aware of how this organization had played important role of building freedom, peace and love foundations in this nation. Now you are free and you are doing well your things, know that there was someone poured out his potentials. So the next generation needs your potentials.
When I think about this young man who was the founder of the organization, I get a lesson “Great things are not done by the mass of the people, its only few people who bring life changes, in people’s life,”.09December 1961.it was an historical day, it was the day which mark the end of colonial rule and the beginning of wakeup, stand up and to start climbing the development mountain, with a great heart, strong determination, powerful willing. This young man was passed away, am sure now everyone know that am talking about Nyerere and TANU.
The generation of that time, it was the generation which knows the meaning of being a youth. A generation of powerful vision, a vision of national prosperity, they played very well their role. From them I have learned “Every generation, has a role to do and every young person has a role to do”.
For 50 years now, we have seen the past generations contribute their efforts to build the economy, culture, the leadership and political system of this nation.
Just think about strong visionary leaders, such as Mkwawa, songea, then the next generation-Nyerere, Kawawa, Edwin mtei, Bibi titi, Adamu sapi, joseph sinde warioba, cleopa msuya and others.
Just think about talented champion athlete, Filbert Bayi. A poem composer - Shaban Robert, a gifted acter-Mzee Kipara, Bi chau, Mzee small. For sure it was the generation of potentials people.
The question remains to us, what should we do for this nation?
We should as Nyerere did? As Shaban Robert? Or as any potential person of the past generations. The answer is NO. Baraka, so what we should do? We must do more than them! Why? Because in now days we have more access to information than the past generations, think about internet, books, documentary, digital technology.
We are at the point, where we are supposed to make things happen, when others observed what happened and others asked what happened.
We are at the point where we need to increase our effort in solving problems and challenges facing the people of this nation.
We are at the point of initiate historical journey of transforming this nation, and believe me, we will reach our destiny, and God is with us.
The day is coming, the day is now!
The hour is coming, the hour is now!
The minute of critical thinking is now!
Within a second, when will close and open our eyes, it will be another story, a story of inspiration to the next generations. Listen! Listen, and the main character of that story is you, play your part very wisely, be on time, be accountable, be responsible.
Your day is today, this is your hour, this is your minute, this is your second, lets wakeup we youth and join our hands together.
God bless Tanzania youth.
